Training Program in Regenerative Medicine (NIH T32)

The University of Florida’s Training Program in Regenerative Medicine is an NIH-funded, University-supported endeavor to train Ph.D. students and Postdoctoral Fellows in the mechanisms & potential of applying stem cell biology to the treatment of human disease.

Program Overview

The training program leverages the interdisciplinary nature of the University’s Health Science Center in its effort to develop trainees’ ability to translate regenerative medicine applications from the bench to the clinic. Faculty from 10 departments, mostly in the College of Medicine, participate as core mentors, and trainees in the program are at liberty to select mentors from this group or from the wider array of training grant mentors throughout the Health Science Center.

Meet the Program Director

Edward Scott, PhD

As Program Director, Dr. Edward W. Scott guides the training program and plays a central role in designing the curriculum, selecting the trainees, and overseeing the program’s growth within the Molecular Genetics & Microbiology environment. Administrative decisions are made in concert with the Program Executive Committee, which comprises the Associate Director of the Training Program, Dr. Desmond Schatz, and two rotating faculty preceptors. Major decisions impacting the program’s character, along with regular program reviews, will be the province of the Program Advisory Committee, which includes leadership from the College and Deans of Medicine, along with external input from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the University of Louisville.
